February RMH Dinner

Ronald McDonald House (map)

Join the DPA in making dinner for the residents of Charlottesville’s Ronald McDonald House, which provides a home away from home for families with children suffering from long-term illnesses and serious injuries. Volunteers can either contribute by donating ingredients for the meal, joining other DPA members in cooking in the evening at the Ronald McDonald House kitchen, or both! Student partners are always welcome.

This month, we are making Spinach Bacon Frittata and Hash browns! To sign up to contribute, fill out the Google Doc: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1c75HepUJUmwF8gmhf7gt_KvwK51U8JX1upekEzE3hHs

If you are planning to help prepare the meal at the RMH kitchen from 5:30-7 p.m., just bring your donated ingredients with you. You may park in any available space in the RMH parking lot. If you can't come to help cook but still want to donate ingredients, you may drop them off at the RMH kitchen any time before 5:30 p.m. on the day of the dinner. Please be aware that the RMH facility is always locked. You will have to use the call pad to buzz the front desk.

All food must be prepared in the RMH kitchen or a commercial kitchen (restaurant, grocery store, etc.). You can purchase prepared foods to donate but you cannot prepare food at home to bring to RMH.

First Fridays on the Downtown Mall

Citizen Burger Bar (212 E Main St, Charlottesville, VA 22902) (map)

Come check out the Charlottesville art scene! The downtown galleries have a new exhibit that they introduce on the first Friday of each month. Some galleries offer free/cheap drinks, snacks, and live music. We will be meeting at Citizen Burger Bar from 5-6 PM for happy hour on the DPA dime! Then, we will make our way through 4-5 galleries depending on how long we want to stay at each one. If you cannot meet at Citizen before, feel free to send us a message on GroupMe to find out which gallery to go to. Students are welcome to join-- please RSVP and comment with your +1 if you can so that we have a general headcount.
